About Sam

Sam was born in Arizona but spent the majority of his childood in Washington State. As such, he developed a great love for the Pacific Northwest and can often be found outside whenever it rains. He says it calms him, but he’s probably just weird.

Sam grew up reading and loving classic fantasy stories such as The Lord of the Rings, and The Sword of Shannara, and was the same age as Harry when he first picked up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It wasn’t until he began reading various versions of the King Arthur legends—as well as anything and everything to do with Irish folkore—that he realized magic didn’t have to only exist in made up worlds, but could be found within our own. Ever since then he’s been attempting to put the wonder and joy he finds from such stories into his own words, hoping to share the magic that he sees around him with everyone else.

Sam went to college in Utah where he attempted to pursue more lucrative degrees, but ended up finding himself in a Creative Writing Major despite his better intentions. It was in Utah that Sam met and married his wife Leslie. She is the love of his life. It might be a cliché, but it’s true. The two of them have recently moved back to Washington State where they have two quirky, but adorable cats.
